2010 Friends of Scouting Breakfast

Raleigh, NC – December 17, 2009: NAI Carolantic Realty’s President, Jimmy Barnes, SIOR, was recently appointed to serve as Chair of the Annual Friends of Scouting Breakfast for the Occoneechee Council of Boy Scouts of America. The Annual Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, March 10th at 7:15am at the North Raleigh Hilton in Raleigh. Mr. Barnes was pleased to announce today the 2010 keynote speaker will be Dr. Nido Qubein, President of High Point University.

Dr. Qubein came to the United States as a teenager with little knowledge of English, no contacts and $50 in his pocket. His life has been an amazing success story. In the past year, Dr. Qubein has addressed more than 100 business and professional groups around the world. He is an entrepreneur with interests in real estate, advertising and banking.

The Annual Friends of Scouting Breakfast attracts more than 500 business and government officials, and is the Occoneechee Council’s primary fundraiser for the year. The event helps to support over 14,680 current youth members. An additional 3,100 local youth joined the Boy Scouts just this past fall. The Occoneechee Council serves Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Lee, Moore, Orange, Vance, Wake and Warren counties. “I look forward to helping raise the needed funds to support the Boys Scouts. They continue to make a significant impact on the lives of our young people,” said Barnes.
